How to open a Procreate file without an iPad
Procreate files only open in Procreate, which only runs on iPad. If you have the file but not the app, here is what works.
Step by step
- 1
Use the browser viewer
Drop the file on the Procreate file viewer to see the preview, canvas size, layers and download the time-lapse. No install.
- 2
Ask for a PSD or PNG export
If you need the full-resolution layers today, the artist can Share → PSD from Procreate. PSD opens in Photoshop, Krita, GIMP and Affinity.
- 3
For the time-lapse only
The viewer extracts the MP4 segments. Alternatively the artist can Share → Time-lapse Replay from Procreate.
- 4
Keep the original
Only the .procreate file preserves everything: layers, blend modes, the recording. Keep it even after exporting.
Then open it
